Owen is on the move & everywhere!

Bedtime is a great time to play in Ava's room
Owen has figured out how to take steps in the last few days. He loves if you hold his hands while he walks around. I just got out the little walk behind toy and he figured out he could push it immediately! He loves it. He can stop growing up anytime!

Ava's First Day of Preschool....

In front her locker
So excited!
So proud!
How did this happen? How do we have a preschooler already? When I signed Ava up for preschool, it seemed like something so distant in the future and it came up so fast! She has been so excited to go to school. She could hardly wait. We have been talking about what would happen at preschool for a while now. We had open house before the first day, and Ava seemed pretty timid that day. However, when the big day came to go by herself, she was all ready. We all went to take her for her first day, and she thought it was pretty neat to have Daddy and Owen there. After we hung up her backpack in her locker and she got her name tag, she was a little scared to go sit with the other kids. We waited around for a few minutes (while she inched closer to the group), and then I told her we were leaving. She immediately asked when I was coming to get her, and I told her I would be back soon. Well, 2 1/2 hours later, I had an extremely excited little girl running up to me whose first words were "I had fun here today, Mom". She loved it! She is already talking about her friends Anna and Hannah and rattled off all three of her teacher's names with no problem. She will be going every Tuesday and Thursday mornings the whole school year. Should be fun to hear about her days!

Owen is 10 Months Old...

Look at me! I figured out how to stand up in my crib Mom!
Balancing the ball on my feet!
On August 15, Owen turned 10 months old! It just doesn't seem possible. He is progressing right along in the movement category. He is enjoying transitioning easily from crawling (his version with a lot of belly contacting the floor) to sitting and back again. However recently, he started standing up. Just three days after he turned 10 months, I couldn't figure out why he wasn't going to sleep for his afternoon nap. He was chatting away, but didn't sound like he was even trying to sleep. Well, needless to say, I found him standing in his crib and he was just giddy with he his new accomplishment. It was priceless to see his grin! Fortunately, this hasn't been a problem for sleeping after the initial couple days of experimenting (instead of napping).
Owen is still loving his food. I've tried making a few homeade food dishes for him, but he doesn't gulp them down quite like he does his baby food. I tried some ground up chicken mixed with veggies and breast milk, and he did eat it, but just not as quickly as he does his other food. He loves to drink from the sippy cup now and is much more quick at consumption. It used to take him several minutes to get an ounce down, and now he drinks a whole 5 oz cup in one day between two meals. He is still sleeping great, although has been waking up a bit earilier in the morning (around 6:00am). Maybe a phase (we are praying!!). He's so easy going and cheerful! We are blessed!
