Happy May Day!
Shrine Circus....
This is my third year in a row at the circus as the first year I just took Ava. Last year, G & G Sieve watched Owen and we both went with Ava. This year was Owen's turn to go so all of us went, and I'm glad we took him. He loved every minute of it, more than Ava actually. The kids both loved all the animals and enjoyed the dancing. Owen loved the camels and was even more thrilled after intermission when the motorcycles, dirt bikes, and 4-wheelers came out. After intermission, Ava was sort of ready to go. I guess we'll never please them both but it was a fun day at the circus! Notice we are in shorts? It was actually nice out that day....
Kindergarten Round Up....
Ava made kindergarten roundup fairly painless for us as parents. Our biggest decision was we had the choice to send her half day or full day. I hate choices, but we did decide to send her full day. The tuition is a little more expensive than preschool each month, but I think she is ready for more interaction, so it's a good choice. We brought her to the area where the kids could meet with the teachers and color pictures with the other kids. She nearly leaped across the room and did not care a bit that we were leaving her there to go listen to the "parent talk." We listened to a presentation by the principal and then Ava met back up with us and showed us where everything was as she had been on a scavenger hunt and tour while we were busy. She is not the least bit scared of kindergarten and wishes it was tomorrow. She knew several girls there from dance, Sunday School, or preschool, so she felt right at home. Hard to believe our baby girl will be going to school in the fall!
April Showers Bring Snowman?
Pillow, Picnics & PJ's.....
When spring just doesn't seem to come, the kids were starting to get creative with the indoor play. On this day, it was find every throw pillow in the house and see if you can run across them without falling off.
Dishes Helper....
Owen has become quite the little heper around the house. He often will walk up to you when you are doing something and say "help me". He always says "help me" when he wants to help you do something and "help you" when he wants you to help him with something, I think because that is our response to him in those situations. He loves to be useful and with Ava, can take care of unloading the dishwasher pretty fast. He also enjoys moving clothes from the washer to the dryer and is very good at picking up toys (in the right mood). My favorite is always his response when you ask him to help which is "ÿeah"in a Norweigen accent with sort of a question mark in his tone. We sure think it's cute!
