The Waterpark....

Owen (4 mths) & Mom
I guess we were getting a little case of cabin fever. We decided to get out of the house and have some fun. We booked a room in Owatonna where there was a nice waterpark. We invited friends of ours that used to live in Bigelow to meet us there. We packed up the family (which only took me about 3 hours) and were out of the house by 9:30 am the next morning for the couple hour trip. Owen was very good in the car, but did not sleep a lot even though it was his nap time. We did some shopping at the Medford outlet mall (a bit challenging with two children, but we survived) and then checked into the hotel. Brad took Ava to the pool while I took care of Owen and got us unpacked in the room. Brad said Ava did nothing but giggle with delight the first half hour they were in the waterpark. She just loved it. He even talked her into going down the big waterslide, but she accidentally went under water when they got to the bottom. She was very scared and refused to go anywhere near it again. Owen and I hung out and watched Brad and Ava play, and he was quite content watching all the action. At around 8:00 pm, Brad took Owen up to the room for bed and I got in the water. After going down the big slide with our friend's daughter Madi several times who is the same age as Ava, I finally talked Ava into going with me. She was quite content in the lazy river with Kelli. She was pretty clingy getting into the tube at the top of the slide, but after one successful trip where she stayed in the tube with hardly even getting splashed at the bottom, she was sold! She kept saying "again Mom" every time we got to the bottom of the slide. I took her at least 12 times and I was feeling it in my legs let me tell you. The next morning, I talked her into letting Brad take her again, and she enjoyed several more trips down the slide before we had to check out of our room. We packed up two extremely tired children for the drive home. Owen was not a big fan of sleeping in the car, but he didn't really cry very much for the first leg of the trip. We stopped in Mankato on the way home and hit the mall for lunch and a ride on the big carousel which Ava loved. It was a peaceful ride after that as both children could no longer resist the extreme exhaustion and slept the rest of the way home. You could really tell Owen did not get his naps because we put him to bed at 7:00 pm when we got home and he slept until 9:30 am the next morning! Amazing!

Ava's First Dentist Appointment..

Angela is explaining what she's going to do

Counting teeth

The dentist gets a peek
Ava had her very first trip to the dentist last week. She was very excited as I told her we were going to see a doctor for her teeth. We all know she loves to go to the doctor! My hygenist who I've had for years, Angela, has been bugging me to get Ava in for her first "fun visit" to the dentist for almost a year now. I decided it was time to get it done. Ava was pretty good, but not quite as good as she is at the doctor. She asked if I could go first when we got next to the chair, but I had just been to there a few days earlier. She did not like the chair in the reclined position and raised off the ground. She seemed scared that she was going to fall (her fear of heights I guess). They counted her teeth and put a fluoride treatment on them. They would have polished her teeth, but she was done with having people look in her mouth, so they opted out of that to keep the appointment fun. The dentist said her teeth looked great with no major issues. She got a new princess toothbrush and toothpaste which she was thrilled about. Hopefully, next time we'll be able to get the polishing done. Hard to believe we are going to the dentist already!

Valentine's Day Party...

Making Valentines

Catherine, Linkin, & Ava

Playing with balloons

My two little valentines
Ava was invited to a Valentine's Day party at our friend Stacey Thone's house in Luverne. She has two little boys, Coulter and Coy. Stacey somehow pulled off a party with 12 kids ages 2-4 years old. I was amazed! We made valentines, had a heart candy hunt, ate heart shaped pizzas, and decorated heart shaped sugar cookies. She even had treat bags for all the kids to take home. Ava had a great time playing with all the kids. She was so excited for the party and I didn't even tell her about it until the day before Valentine's Day. She's still talking about it. Owen was pretty good considering it was a little loud for taking a nap with all the kids. He never really gets fussy as long as you hold him, but he's not going to sleep much unless he's home in his crib.

Some Family Visitors...

Owen-4 mths, Addie-4, Ava-3, Sam- 6

Addie & Aunt Shelly with Owen

The juice box queens

Brittany & Owen-4 months
It's always nice to have people come to visit. We enjoy the company. Ava and I even escaped to one of Uncle Jason's basketball games in Dell Rapids with Shelly and the kids. Ava was exhausted after a long day of playing with Sam and Addie, but she did pretty well. Daddy and Owen got some bonding time at home.
It was so nice of Brittany to stop by on a visit home from college. We miss being able to have her babysit.
