Fun Pics...
Ava loves to play on the floor with Owen & he loves to watch her
He is laughing (with his eyes shut as usual)
I came out of Owen's room with this outfit on which he hadn't worn before and Ava says, "Well hi there Owen, you got your whale shirt on today, that's nice." I just died laughing! It was just as if she had shopped for it herself!
All about Miss Ava...
Posing with her "M&M" Hannah brought back for her from Vegas
New Haircut
While Ava isn't changing in looks every week like her brother, she is growing up right before our eyes. She never forgets anything and amazes us every day with something. I took her to the salon with me this past week so we could get haircuts. She was just on cloud nine when she was in the chair. She was grinning and smiling the entire time as everyone in the salon was telling her how cute her hair was. We cut about 4 inches off and I love it. She has such thick hair and it lays very nicely. She likes it too because it has way less tangles. Her life still revolves around babies or playing babies. She often plays that she's going to the doctor and tells me she has a baby in her tummy that's coming out today. Wonder how long this will last?
Funny Story: I was awake and up for maybe 20 minutes one morning and Ava says to me, "Mom, you should go get ready cuz your hair is kinda bad."
Smiley Little Brother (3 1/2 months old)...
Smiles are pretty easy to come by with the little guy
3 1/2 months old
I wonder how long (and how many tries) it will take for me to get a picture with both of them smiling. Right now I'm very happy if they are together and looking at the camera when no one is crying!
Our "Little" Guy...
We are still wondering if he's getting enough to eat?
My little lady and little man!
Yes I will take a picture, but then can I eat?
We had Owen's appointment with the pediatric endocrinologist on Jan. 20th. We got some encouraging news about his hypothyroidism. His TSH was back down again at 6. It's still not "normal" (below 5), but encouraging that it came down from 9.5 in December. We still aren't going to medicate him, but rather recheck his TSH again in 3 months. He weighed in at 18 lbs 4 oz at his appointment at just over 3 months old. He certainly has some rolls and we love them!
Surgery Update...
I wasn't going to mention anything on the blog about my surgery, but this is my kids' scrapbook and I'm sure Ava will remember something about it. I recently had my thyroid removed due to a suspicious nodule on the right side of the gland. Turned out that is was cancer. While no one likes to hear the "C" word, it really has been okay. It was Stage I so no further treatment was necessary after the total thyroidectomy. While I had not invisioned by first overnight stay away from Owen as a night in the hospital following surgery, it went very well. Recovery was not bad at all, and my incision is healing very well. Grandma Joyce was kind enough to come and stay for a few days to take care of the kids while I was gone and the first day back at home. Ava had fun with Grandma, but was extremely curious about my "ouwie". She asked to touch my bandage almost every day and kept asking if it was better yet. Now that the bandage is off, she asks me if it still hurts periodically. Honestly, I barely know it's there and it's just been over 2 weeks. I am certainly counting my blessings. It could have been much worse!
Brad's "32 + 1" Birthday
So I didn't exactly have two "3"s for Brad's 33rd Birthday so we improvised!
Daddy and his two little buddies (yes- Ava hit the frosting pretty hard)
Enjoying the cake - looks like Owen wouldn't mind trying a bite
Making Owen laugh
We celebrated Brad's birthday with an evening at home. That seems easiest these days and we just enjoy being home. Ava was so excited to celebrate another birthday as all birthdays are a highlight, even if they aren't hers. We made him a cake with candles and sang to him which is Ava's favorite part. She loves to watch other people open gifts, so she was very excited to give Daddy his present. It was a fun family night for us. I do like this time of year as Brad is a full two years older than me on paper. It's the little things in life!
