Potty Training: "Poot & Poppy"

"Camp Potty" in the living room

Potty training Owen has proved to be a bit more of a challenge that it was for Ava.  We had our first attempt shortly after his birthday in October and he really didn't seem to care at all.  Although he was successful several times on the potty, his heart really wasn't in it.  Attempt #2 was made in mid January.  This time, we could immediately tell he seemed to "get it".  The potty is going very well.  He still can have an accident every now and again, but for the most part he's good.  He can hold it for quite a while and still only really goes when we bring it up.  I'm a little scared to see what would happen if we waited for him to initiate it all the time, but he probably could go much longer than the 1 1/2 - 2 hours that we let him.  The poop on the other hand is not so great.  He was holding it to the point of being in pain just before we left to go to Florida.  I was using suppositories and the sad thing was, he was asking for them.  At Grandma's while we were gone, he became accustomed to going in his pants. While it wasn't great for her, we were happy he maintained potty training while we were gone, and I did not have much hope for anything beyond that.  He is still not poop trained, but we are hoping to make progress in this area soon.  He still wears diapers/pull ups at naptime and bedtime, but I'm not expecting that to go away anytime soon. ,He loves to talk about his "poot"and his "poppy", and isn't afraid to lie and tell Daddy he went "poot in the poppy" when he really didn't.  Boys!

Shelly, Addie, and Reese come to visit....

Shelly, Reese (almost 6 mths), & Owen

Owen is saying his best "cheese"

Addie & Ava were playing in pajamas for a good share of the day

Reese & Ava

I thought this was classic- no one was looking!!
Addie had the day off of school on Friday so Shelly made a trip to visit us.  It was nice to have them as it had been a long time since they have been able to come for the day.  Owen didn't have Sam to play with, so he was pretty infatuated with Reese.  He liked to sit by her and take away her toys if he had the chance.  I secretly think it was payback for all the times Ava did that to him before he could move.  The kids had fun although naps for the two younger ones were a bit challenging.

Cocoa Beach & Our Resort

Cocoa Beach was so pretty

Kelli & I

We stayed until sunset

It was chilly but worth the stunning view

Our resort - many buildings as far as you could see

We enjoyed the hot tub, but a little chilly for the pool

Our room: kitchen/living

Bed/bath area

On our deck
It was sad to leave the warm weather and head back to Minnesota, but we did miss our kids.  Four nights was just the right amount of time for us to get away, but we were ready to be back home again.  The beach was one of the highlights from the trip.  We would love to come back when it's a little warmer, but next time I'm sure it won't be the two of us.  Thank you to Mom & Dad for watching our kids while we were gone.  It was our first "real trip" since we've had kids and was so nice.  Our kids had a great time at Grandpa & Grandma's too!

Kennedy Space Center....

Brad & I by the entrance

The Apollo 8 simulator, set up just as it was during launch and they played the audio and video from the launch

Actual Apollo

Kelli standing under it- it was 42 stories long

Actual launch pad

This building was huge - much bigger than it looks on TV

Ken, Kelli, Brad, and I went to Kennedy Space Center which was about an hour drive from our resort.  It was neat to see all the rockets up close.  It was more "touristy" than we thought it would be.  They took you outside the actual museum area in charter busses and you were not allowed very close to launch pads, etc which was understandable.  I'm glad we made the trip to see it though.

The Beautiful Florida Wedding: Heather & Mark Balk

Gorgeous Setting

Greg & Heather

It was a beautiful wedding- just wish we would have dressed a bit warmer

We were keeping busy while the pictures were going on after the ceremony (& staying warm)

Brad had to unroll his sleeves in an attempt to stay warm- wish I would have had pants!

The sand was surprisingly warm!

The reception which was a short walk down the beach

Under the cypress trees

My creation to use Kelsey's shawl as an addition to her dress

The wedding was gorgeous at sunset.  The wedding party looked beautiful.  We enjoyed wonderful food under the cypress trees after the ceremony.  It was such a nice and relaxed setting, we were wondering why we chose a church wedding?  After the meal, we took 3 taxis to Universal Studios/Hollywood Studios City Walk to a piano bar.  Heather and Mark reserved enough seating for us which was great since it was packed.  The piano/singing was awesome.  We had a great time and didn't even have to figure out where we were going or how to get  back to our resort which was nice.  We got lost a few times on this trip :)
