The Bumbo Seat & Smiles...

First time in the Bumbo seat - 17 weeks

Turning on the Charm

17 weeks

As I was packing away another size of clothes from Owen's dresser (which seems like all I do lately), I saw the Bumbo seat sitting in the box. I remember thinking it was going to be such a long time before we would use it when we received it for a shower gift, and now that time is already here! He didn't seem too excited at first when I put him in it, but then he seemed to enjoy being right up at my level with a nice new view. He looks kind of squished in it with his chubby midsection and thighs. I don't think we have to worry about him falling out! I remember Ava fit better in hers around a year old than she did at 6 months just because she had grown taller and thinned out a bit. Maybe Owen will be the same.

Owen & I - I'm not going to lie, he was very heavy after the first hour in that carrier

We were looking for something to do as a family and decided we should go to the Washington Pavillion to the Children's Museum. Brad had never been there with us, so he had fun checking out all the exhibits. I've always gone with my sisters and their kids, so this was the first time Ava didn't have anyone to play with that she knew. It didn't take her long to warm up and she was running around playing with everything. It is a great place for kids of all ages, and it's so nice that it's not far from our house. Owen was a trooper and really enjoyed all the excitement of the kids. His head was whirling by the time we left! Of course, we had to go for ice cream!

Owen 16 Weeks...

Man, it's cold in here- put me back in the tub!

Time for bed....I love my fingers!

Our little Owen is really getting to be a lot of fun. He laughs all the time and he loves to play. He is nearly obsessed with watching Ava. Every time she comes near him and talks, he's looking all over to see her. He still loves his baths and really never seems to want to get out. In the past few weeks, he has found his fingers. He loves to suck on his index and middle fingers or just his fist. Whatever he can get his mouth around is fine, he's not fussy. He will not take a pacifier unless you hold it in his mouth for him. He is still sleeping great. He's usually down around 9:00 pm and sleeps until 8-9 am. We really couldn't ask for better. He takes a nap from 10-12 or 12:30, another from 2:30-5, and a short cat nap of about a half hour in the evening. We started laying him down awake for all naps and night time about two-three weeks ago and he is doing great with it. Sometimes, he fusses a little, but it usually doesn't last long. Overall, he's pretty easy going.

Dress Up!

Ava has just recently taken up "dressing up" as a fun game to play. We've had this princess stuff for quite some time, and she wanted nothing to do with it. Suddenly, a few weeks ago she just emerged from the playroom with this outfit on (proud as she could be) and told me she was a princess. She also told me she was getting married. She is obsessed with marriages ever since she asked about our wedding pictures on the wall a few weeks ago. She asks me if I'm married, if grandpa and grandma are married, etc. The good news is, she still wants to marry her mom or dad at this point. We told her she had to be a big girl and grown up before she could get married (ideally about 30!) and her reply was "I want to be grown up already." If she only knew how fast she was growing up in our eyes!
