Owen: 2 Year Old Report....

Owen was a pretty good sport for his 2 year old well check.  In addition to his usual well check stuff, we also had to get a blood sample to recheck his thyroid since we hadn't checked that for a year.  We also had him tested for diabetes as long as we were getting a blood sample as he has an extremely excessive thirst.  So much so, that many nights he is soaked by 2-3:00 am.  I thought they were going to do a finger poke, but they ended up having to do a venipuncture stick in his elbow.  I was a little nervous after hearing this, but after we had him laying down and the tourniquet on, he just laid still.  He didn't even flinch when they stuck the needle in.  Luckily, they got him on the first try.  Both tests came back completely normal which was great.
Stats:
Height:  36" (84%)
Weight:  34 lbs (96%)
Another child at the top of the charts!  Owen is doing great by all accounts healthwise.  Our only concern was that he isn't speaking nearly as much as Ava was at this age, but Dr. Crabtree wasn't concerned about this yet.
Owen is our little active 2 year old.  He is so curious about things and will try just about anything.  He loves anything with wheels and is very happy playing with a truck or cars for extended periods of time.  He is such a happy little boy and laughs and plays with us all the time.  He loves to play with his sister, even though they fight, and misses her when she's gone at preschool.  If Brad takes Ava to preschool because Owen sleeps in, his first stop when he wakes up is to check in Ava's room to see where she is.  He is thrilled when I tell him it's time to go pick her up and rushes to put his shoes on.  He learned to pedal his tricycle just a few days after his birthday, and continues to excel in motor skills.  He's a great eater and lets us know if he doesn't get enough!  Owen has some favorite words/phrases right now including "I don't know", "Milk please", and "Bye, bye, truck".  He is nearly obsessed with milk and drinks plenty each day.  We are not worried about his calcium intake.  He also loves to go somewhere in daddy's truck.  He will usually make his request as we are getting our shoes on that he would like to take the truck.  Of course, we usually do!  He is so funny to carry on a converstaion with because he will always respond to your requests with "K" or "I don't know" and it fits right into context.  He is adjusting to daycare more and more all the time. He had a hard time at first, but he seems to be getting along okay now.  He doesn't always eat or sleep like he does at home, but I guess that is to be expected.  I'm now used to him eating twice as much in the evenings when he's been at daycare all day!
