Dropping off the kids at Grandma's with Toby & Zach before I headed to the airport.
Shelly & I on the plane. We didn't leave until after lunch and it was a long trip. Flight was delayed and then landing in LAX proved to be one big delay. Took quite a while for our luggage, then had to shuttle to the rental car place and wait in very long lines. Finally around 6:00 pm, we headed out into rush hour traffic. It was awful, going 15 mph most of the time or stopped. Needless to say, after about 45 minutes traffic progressively picked up and we were able to get going on out trek to San Diego. It was a late evening when we finally arrived at the hotel, but happy to see Sandy when we got there.
View from our hotel balcony. What a beautiful first morning and every morning it was! Sunny, little breeze and 70 degrees!
Coronado Island
The beach was gorgeous. Could have sat there all day...
Cute little seafood place on Coronodo Island. Of course every place was cute! Food was amazing! I'm not sure if it was because my meals were uninterrupted by the kids or if the food was that great! Maybe a little of both.
The really tall and scary bridge to get to Coronado. It was worth it though!
Sandy and Shelly getting their afternoon caffeine fix.
The Gas Lamp for supper and drinks that night.
This was across the street from where we ate downtown (Gas Lamp District). All the buildings were that cool and there were 16 square blocks of them!
Our second full day (& our last) consisted of taking a site seeing trolly to the top of this mountain where there was a veterans memorial. Very neat!
From the beach in front of our hotel
We ventured to the historic Old Town. Again, the weather was just perfect!
What a fun sister's weekend it was! I'd love to go back. Gorgeous weather, great company! Our 3 days went way too fast but happy to be home and see the kids again (oh yeah, and Brad)!
